Nomads showed their character to earn 3 points against Maine Road after the disappointment of the last week.
The first 15 minutes was a tight affair as both teams were feeling each other out, Nomads try to play their usual football but in moments the passing was a little off and just out of reach of their teammates which would lead to the ball going out of play. The first chance came in the 11th minute, and it fell to Maine Road, when their number 7 Shaquille Lewys became free in the centre and began to dribble towards goal with a shuffle to the side to get free for a shot that went over the bar.
On the 16th Minute mark play was stopped for a lengthy period due to a clash of heads between Josh Tinker and Tom Greenfield which led to both being treated, Tinker ending up having a nasty gash on the back of his head and Greenfield having a cut above his right eyebrow. 6 minute later the game resumed as Nomads look to compose themselves to help both players shake the cobwebs lose.
After 26 minutes a cheap foul is giving away which leads to a dangerous free kick for Maine Road. It was whipped to the back post Road’s Number 4 Louis Edwards is left free at the back to pass back across for it to be a tap in making it 1-0 to Maine Road. Despite this Nomads remained focused and start to gain control leading to having more of the ball but nothing to show for it at the break.

The Second Half starts and Nomads full of energy, continuing where they finished the first half moving the ball around well. 5 minutes into the half confusing all over the pitch as a foul on Nomads Goalkeeper Dimeji Willan whilst clearing the ball by Maine Road’s number 9 Yousif Yousif leaves Dimeji laying on the floor holding his head but the ref didn’t stop the play as Maine Road played the ball back over and 2 yards out on the angle with the goal wide open Road’s number 9’s poot control leads to the ball going out of play afterward this the ref then went back to give the foul and show a yellow card to Yousif Yousif.
Nomads started to gain in confidence as the half went with the signs that the goal was coming, and it did on 61st Minute with Daniel Mclaughlin scoring from a corner.
4 minutes later and the introduction of Max Lewens to the left side moving Kieran Alley to the right gave Nomads some balance on the attack and the only looked like one team was going to score the next goal and it was as expected, Nomads with a well taken free kick on the left side from about 20 yards out by Jordan Milne with the ball nesting in the top corner of the near post making it 2-1.
The threats start to come from both sides of the Nomads attack now with the Max assisting Kieran for the next goal, as the ball land at his feet who drives towards the by-line whipping the ball across for Kieran to put into the net. The game now 3-1 in favour of Cheadle, Maine Road couldn’t handle Max’s pace as he continued to breeze past Maine Road Defence.
To complete the comeback with only a couple of minutes to go a pinpoint kick out of Dimeji’s hands lands right the feet of Max with his first touch to push the ball into space driving forward and putting in a first time low cross for Kyle Foley to side foot back across the goal leaving to goalkeeper to watch it go into the bottom corner making that his 21st goal of the season and the game finishing on that last attack Cheadle Heath

Match report by Brendan Johns
After the game we got the thoughts of Manager Jake Davies:
“The way the game has ended and been played today, couldn’t have gone better. First half we had a lack of cutting edge and switched off from a set play, sums our season up.
There would have been many people doubting ourselves given recent performances and results but the key message at HT was to not feel sorry for ourselves, I said to the players to continue going and work hard, the quality would come out. Second half we’ve come out and scored 4 goals and could have had more, the character shown to come from behind and win a game so convincingly is massive for us.
However at full time I’ve said to the players we’ve had this feeling before and I’m not getting carried a way, we haven’t put 3 wins together back to back all season and if we want to achieve what we want over the next 12 months then we’ve got to get into this habit. Winning on Tuesday night is the focus. We’ll enjoy today we deserve to after a great performance, after tonight that’s over though and we’ll prepare for a massive cup game against Congleton on Tuesday.
I’m made up for Danny McLaughlin, Max Lewens and Danny Byrnes today. Danny McLaughlin gave a leaders performance in the second half and dragged the team with him considering the set back in the first half. Max Lewens hasn’t features for a while and he was instrumental in the teams quality and clinical edge when he came on. To see Danny Byrnes start again without any injury problems is very pleasing.
Lastly a massive thank you to Reddish Vulcans U7’s, the players are a credit to their parents and we hope to see you all very soon, great personalities and great people. See you guys soon.”
