Nomads reserves went down 3-2 away at Malpas yesterday in their most recent Cheshire league fixture. In what has always been a difficult place for us to visit, we were unable to take anything from the game again despite twice coming back twice in the game

Manager Callum Davies gave us his thoughts on the game:

Nomads showing patterns from previous games already in the season. Nomads start brightly with Owen Adams having a shot cleared off the line.

Good spells of possession couldn’t turn into goals and would prove costly after 25 mins as Malpas play a direct ball which drops nicely for the forward to score.

Giving Malpas confidence they start to play there way into the game which would be cut short as George Howarth shows a great solo goal cutting in from the left to score at the near post. On the stroke of half time Malpas score from a corner showing the softness of nomads defending.

Second half nomads start brightly and with 25 mins remaining George scores again to make it 2-2.

Nomads found it difficult to break down a solid Malpas defense who struggled to create much second half due to the challenges of getting up the hill.

However 10 mins from time Malpas play a direct ball which the wide player collects and cuts inside to score and make it 3-2.

A disappointing result again for nomads due to soft defending. An achilles heal which needs addressing should nomads want to start winning games.

We wish Malpas the best for the season and look forward to the return game
