Nomads reserves progressed through to the next round of the Cheshire cup following a hard earned 2-1 away victory against Dukinfield Town of the Manchester Premier league. Nomads goals were scored by Luke Newsham and another from George Howarth.
Manager Callum Davies gave us his thoughts on the game.
Nomads reserves continue there fine run of form going through to the next round of the Cheshire amateur cup.
The game starts brightly for nomads as they win the ball early in midfield for Joel Riley to slot in Luke Newsham who finds the back of the net. 0-1 up inside 8 mins.
Throughout the game Dukinfield really pushed on and had large spells of the ball. However a resolute nomads team managed to stay together and nullify anything that was thrown at them in the first half. 0-1 HT.
Quality in the top areas of the pitch were very much needing to improve if we were to see out the game, we couldn’t sit on the one goal. Despite having several players unavailable, those selected applied themselves as we expected.
With around 25 to play Duki town get there well deserved equalizer breaking down the high back line to slot home.
However the U18s that entered the field gave a new lease of life showing their potential. Luke Tinsley find space in central midfield to set George Howarth through on goal to continue his fine run of form slotting past the keeper to make it 1-2.
Moving to a back 5 in the latter stages showing brilliant resilience to keep the ball out the net got nomads over the line. Rob Stanger who came on at RWB showing brilliant energy offering a threat down the sides of the pitch was a huge factor in how we went about seeing out the job.
1 to 11 I couldn’t ask anymore of. Well done lads
Man of the match – Harry Shipton another brilliant asset to this group of players.
