Nomads broke their duck on the 21/22 season with their first point against West Didsbury and Chorlton. The visitors remain unbeaten in the league following a good start to the campaign and have now recorded consecutive 2-2 draws following the same score line in midweek at home to New Mills.

Nomads started the game well and put the visitors on the back foot in the early stages of the game before they managed a foot hold and started to threaten the Nomads goal

The home team took the lead though and it was once again Will Shawcross who put the ball in the net after a Danny Mclaughlin knock down allowed him to round the keeper and finish from a tight angle to make it 1-0 Nomads. Despite a contentious offside goal for the visitors where the referee saw a push, Nomads made it to the half in front.

The expected response came from West in the second half and a nearly dispatched free kick got them back in the game. The visitors now started to put a bit of pressure on the Nomads goal and it was all hands to the pump to keep the score level. It was West who looked the most likely now and they did eventually take the lead with an unbelievable strike from the substitute midfielder. We have been fortunate in the last 2 weeks to have seen 2 superb strikes which would have to be contenders for goal of the season in any league.

The game was not over yet though and there was yet another twist to be had. Nomads got back into the game and levelled it all up when the west defender handled in the area and Shawcross converted comfortably from the spot. Chances were few and far between in the final 10 minutes or so as both sides looked for a winner. But it wasn’t to be and the match finished all square.

Nomads get there first point on the board and will look to add to that on Monday when we visit Stockport Town
