Following some good performances recently, the under 18 squad managed their first win of pre season when they played Ramsbottom last night. The win was well received as the squad prepare for the season opener on the 5th September. Next up for Sam Holtham’s team is a Stockport County Academy select x1 at the Heath this Sunday at 2pm

The manager gave us this summary of last nights match

It was good to get the first win of pre season. I

We started bright and were in control but with a touch of sloppy possession Ramsbottom managed to take the lead midway through the first half.
Following this, we struggled  to create clear cut chances, which lead to is having too many pot shots from distance.
The movement from the forwards was not quite what was called for and we looked for them to improve in the second half.

In the second half we continued where we left off, being dominant in all areas of the pitch but again failing to work the goalkeeper enough.
We were having lots of possession and with a well worked move around the box we managed to win a penalty, which Harris Choudry put away.

We created chance after chance but were not clinical enough in the final 3rd.

Around the 70th minute mark, the break through came from a Josh Macklin volley, 2-1 Which is what we fully deserved.

Final score 2-1.
Another good performance all round but we have to be more ruthless in the goal 3rd.

Next up, Stockport County.
